Twenty-seven years in, I still watch engineers reach for the sophisticated solution because it feels like more work must mean more value. It doesn't. The minimum necessary solution, the one that solves the real problem cleanly and nothing more, is the hardest thing in this field to design and the easiest thing to defend. Anyone can add.
