Read each one and write your answer, then defend it in a sentence or two.

SCENARIO 1

A 14 by 8 carton rides easy-way on a trunk with 3-inch roller centers and diverts at a ninety-degree transfer onto a takeaway. Describe the orientation it's in on the takeaway, which dimension is now in the direction of travel, and what has to drive the takeaway roller-center selection. Then say what goes wrong if the takeaway keeps the trunk's 3-inch roller centers.

SCENARIO 2

Three lanes of air-based accumulation feed a merge. Identify the reliability risk that creates and the design change required before the merge point, explain what the change accomplishes, and say what happens without it. Then explain why a tighter set of PLC parameters alone won't fix it.
